Josh Donaldson announced his retirement at the end of his 13-year career, during which he was named to three All-Star Games and was

voted the 2015 AL MVP while playing for the Toronto Blue Jays.

During an interview on “The Mayor’s Office,” a podcast hosted by former big league first baseman Sean Casey, the 38-year-old revealed

his plans on Monday. After spending the previous season between the Milwaukee Brewers and the New York Yankees, Donaldson is a free agent.

Donaldson, who married in the offseason, said, “It’s sad because I’ll be able to go out there and play the game that I love anymore, but it’s

also a very happy time that I get to be around the family and kind of take that next chapter in life.”
